I always wanted to go in search for my religious orientation...what made me a christian? the answer was simple - "born of x-ian parents"...eventhough i loved hindu traditions a lot, i was very devotional and a god-fearing child (to the outside world) in my childhood days...but when time rolled on, the thoughts and beliefs about my religion shifted to a new perspective...i lost my complete faith in the man-made pictures, tombs, churches, and miracles...i made it a practise not to visit churches during the 'day of rest'..i tried my level best to keep up the oath ( not an oath though) or solemn promise which i have said to myself..- dont visit the churches !!! In my perception, these man-made structures were in a way posing threat to the mother earth...most of the institutions were lacking integrity, more or less similar to the current world political institutions. For some, these are kind of asylums , a shelter from danger/ hradships , and for some others, a holy-place which cleanses from all their sins and faux pas', and for majority (clergies and church authorities), it is like a place where in which they can sneak the oblations given by the believers for the aid of the church and needy.
Eventhough I have my mind all against this church practises followed by my parents and relatives, somewhere in my mind I wanted to study the good side of its effect on the people, the culture and heritage of my country, and also how it evolved into its current form, fully-filled up with believers who only want to clear their sins till yesterday and again jumping to a pool of crimes and incriminations...
How did Christianity came to being? Who started it? Who wrote Bible? Who created the characters Adam and Eve? Were they characters or a couple who really lived? Who compiled the book, Bible? How it got translated to English, and then to Malayalam? If we are all children of God, why are we speaking different languages? Why some organs became vestigeal in our body?
I had lots and lots of questions...
But, I know...(or to be more clear, I believe) there is a supernatural power in this world, who controls the balance of this spinning and revolving ball..!!! I dont have the balls to question that absolute power..I salute you for making me into this form (sometimes, I curse you for making me a living one out of that 20-20,000 million sperms...:)
This week I started learning about the history of my denomination - Orthodox.
What is meant by Orthodox ? It is a Greek word, which simply means "having the right opinion", and is typically used to mean 'adhering to the accepted or traditional and established faith, especially in religion'.
More to be written as I am going deep into this subject now.................................................
